The Washington Wizards didn’t reach their goal of the Eastern Conference Finals, but it was not a wasted season. Here’s a personal thank you for the hard work and the incredible journey you took us on in 2017-18.
The Washington Wizards 2017-18 season ended when they lost to the Toronto Raptors. However, the Wizards journey has not.
At the beginning of the year, some players argued, that it would be a wasted season if they didn’t reach the Eastern Conference Finals.
It may be a disappointment, but let’s not discount this season. Every player on that team put in hard work—seen and unseen.
It’s very easy to point fingers—closing out games, turnovers, etc. But there’s a time for everything, and now let’s take a moment to thank this incredible team.
In no particular order:
John Wall missed 41 games, and returned to the lineup as if he never even missed a single day of practice. He didn’t make any excuses.
He could have easily pointed to his surgery, knees, and missed fouls calls. But being the man that he is, and the leader that he was always meant to be, he made no excuses.
Instead, he thanked his 14 brothers for holding it down while he was out. He did everything that was asked of him.
He’s the fastest player in the NBA and has an uncanny hand-eye coordination. Which means if you talk behind his back he can see you.
All jokes aside. Being a competitor, he is his own toughest critic, so he knows what he needs to work on.
