Calling for backup

Last season, Wall didn’t have a reliable backup. This season, there was no backup for Beal.

Jodie Meeks tried in the beginning, but he wasn’t effective (among other things). Therefore, the Wizards need a starting center and a backup shooting guard.

Moving Tomas Satoransky over to the two or the three is not going to work. Sato is a point guard.

Some players in the league can switch between the two positions.

Also, Sato needs more playing time next season when the Wizards are playing sub-.500 teams. No disrespect to any team in the league, because everyone is a professional.

However, Sato needs more reps so he can become playoff-tested. He did an excellent job helping to carry the team when Wall was out.

He can also do an excellent job with Wall next postseason, if he gets more time in during the regular season.

Currently, the Wizards have five point guards. It may just come down to Sato and Ty Lawson. Whether it’s unfair or not, those two may have to earn the backup role.

Or Washington may go outside, and Wall has three backups? Wall and management will figure that one out.

Back to Beal. The Wizards have to go big to find his backup.
