Washington Wizards: Why LeBron James should join the Wizards
Why LeBron James would come to Washington
One of the reasons floated about as to why free agents or All-Stars don’t want to come to Washington is the location. Another is the team. Well, I’m about to sell why both the City and the team are premier destinations.
Washington is a beautiful city. There are beautiful parks throughout the region. World class museums. Fine institutions of higher learning. It’s also becoming something that Boston has always prided itself upon – a walking city.
Everything is within walking distance. Whether one wants to catch a play, a movie, an art exhibit, or just walk around the Mall between the Smithsonian. Washington has everything a big city has to offer, and everything that a bedroom community has as well.
In addition, if James doesn’t want to uproot his children from their current schools, they would be able to remain in Ohio. Because Washington has three major airports. That is its strongest selling point.
Now to the team itself. James is very familiar with John Wall, not just because they share the same agent. But Wall’s record speaks for itself. He is one of the best point guards in the league.
Don’t even bother bringing up Game 7 of the Boston Series. That was fatigue and not a lack of talent that cost the Wizards that game. I don’t envision a situation where Wall would freeze up in big moments like James Harden. Only speaking facts.
Another argument is whether Wall would let James push the ball up the floor? James would not have to worry about taking upon himself point guard duties with Wall at the helm.
A lineup of James, Wall and Beal and the rest of the Wizards cast would go pound-for-pound with Boston. Three bona fide All-Stars.
I believe James’ discipline would rub off on the Wizards bench, such that they could go toe-to-toe with the Celtics bench.
Here’s the difference. James could take any team to the NBA Finals. Kevin Durant cannot. Stephen Curry cannot.
But once a James-led team is at the Finals against the Warriors, the Warrior always have a better team.
However, there is also this X-factor that Wall possesses, and that’s a killer instinct. You place that alongside James, and the Wizards have a very good shot at beating the Warriors.
The only thing holding Washington back is developing their bench. Between the Wizards coaching staff, and James alongside Wall and Beal, the bench can reach that next level.
The Wizards second-unit could develop the discipline of Boston and the stamina to play heavy minutes when needed.
James can change the culture of the Wizards, while also enjoying the culture of this great City of Washington.
LeBron James and John Wall….forget about James needing help. The other teams will need it.
