The Washington Wizards didn’t make a splash in the 2018 NBA Draft. Is it because President Ernie Grunfeld is going to make a huge move in Free Agency? Let’s hope so for John Wall’s sake.

All eyes were on the NBA Draft waiting to see which player the Washington Wizards would select with their 15th overall pick. When Troy Brown, Jr. was selected, there were mixed emotions from the fanbase.

According to Ernie Grunfeld, Brown is a versatile player, who could play both guard and forward.

From my standpoint, the world is Mr. Brown’s oyster at this point. So no complaints here.

At the same time while watching the draft, I’m wondering what big chess moves does Grunfeld have up his sleeve? Is there a big target that they’re waiting for in free agency?

There has to be. Because the draft didn’t provide the monumental change that the Wizards need to make them a contender.

We also have to change the definition of “contender” for Washington. It’s now “contender” in the sense of at least reaching the Eastern Conference Finals.

After the draft, I joked that the free agency has to be a splash, such that DeMarcus Cousins better be walking through that door. For those who don’t see the basketball humor, I meant that whomever the Wizards pick up in the open market has to move the needle.

Otherwise, there is a chance that John Wall‘s legacy will end up like Reggie Miller or Charles Barkley‘s.

Will the Wizards ever make a change or will it be business as usual? It will determine whether Wall get’s a ring in Washington. The following changes have to be made.
