3. Ian Mahinmi shoots 4 or more 3-pointers

Yes, I said it, Ian Mahinmi will attempt 4 or more 3’s in tonight’s match up against the Heat. During the entire training camp, Scott Brooks and everyone have been raving about how Mahinmi has impressed with his 3-point shooting.

It’s tough to imagine, especially for all the Wizards fans out there. Past play has indicated that Mahinmi has a limited skill-set. As we see from the clip below, Mahinmi has confidence in his 3-point shooting capabilities.

There is always a time for change and this season could be just that for Mahinmi. He got the start for injured Dwight Howard and went 2-4 from the field, finishing with 8 points, 7 rebounds, in 19 minutes of play.

However, the more impressive stat is that he went 1-2 from the 3-point line. Now days offenses are used to their center position providing them versatility and knocking down some long range shots throughout the game. The Wizards haven’t had that luxury for the past couple seasons and Dwight Howard won’t be able to present that option either.

If Mahinmi’s 3-point shooting is for real then he will be able to carve himself a important role in the offense. Jason Smith can stretch the floor, but is a liability defensively. I assume that Mahinmi realizes the opportunity and will attempt more 3’s not just against Miami, but for the remainder of the preseason as well.

Get ready–Mahinmi is about to make it rain.
