2. Team shoots 40% from the 3-Point line

The Wizards had a sub-par shooting performance against the New York Knicks from distance. They went 8-38, shooting 21.1% from the 3-point line.

Fore the most part, the first game is always a time to work out the kinks and shake off the rust. Despite this, the first game woes won’t discourage Washington from shooting more 3’s. They will continue to work on this new style of play and what better way to do so than to put up more 3-pointers?

The only player to convert more than two 3-pointers in the preseason opener was Otto Porter Jr., which makes the rest of the team due for a good outside shooting performance. Markieff Morris, Kelly Oubre Jr., Austin Rivers, and even Jeff Green will come out firing on all cylinders tonight.

In addition, look for the Wizards to get some open looks for their big men this evening. Morris, Mahinmi, Smith, and the rookie, Thomas Bryant. Having big’s that can space out the floor and shoot triples will be critical in order for Washington to try and win the East.

With Morris and Smith there’s nothing to worry about since they have proven that they can range from distance. But, it will be entertaining and interesting to see how Mahinmi and Bryant pan out with their 3-point shooting performances.

The Wizards will bounce back. The team will come out firing from tip-off. Don’t be surprised when their shooting percentage soars through the roof tonight.
