The Washington Wizards have an opportunity at redemption as they take on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Washington Wizards (1-1) at New York Knicks (3-0)

The Washington Wizards are coming off a victory against the Miami Heat, 121-114. This was just their second preseason game. The New York Knicks have played three preseason games thus far and looked fantastic in all three of them.

Washington had an impressive game as the team played significantly better than the preseason opener against the Knicks. Bradley Beal led the charge with 20 points. John Wall did a fantastic job of getting his teammates involved producing 9 assists along with 9 points. The team had 5 other members score in double figures as well.

Going into halftime the Wizards were trailing by 8 points. They exploded out of the gate, outscoring the Heat by 13 in the 3rd quarter. Washington finished strong and held onto the lead in the 4th period, something they didn’t do the first time around against the Knicks.

Let’s hope that Markieff Morris can keep his cool and no get tossed early in this game. He played well against Miami and doesn’t need to let opposing players dance around in his head.

Wall’s minutes increased against Miami so hopefully there will be more opportunities to see more 3-guard sets with Wall, Beal, and Austin Rivers. These three need to share the floor as much as possible before heading into the regular season so they all can get on the same page.

The match up I’m looking forward to the most is Otto Porter Jr. against Kevin Knox. The rookie, Knox, has shown an immense amount of potential and it will be fun to see how Porter attacks and defends him.

Don’t forget about the strong play of Ian Mahinmi.  Let’s be real, we all want to see more 3’s from him to see if it’s a consistent theme. He will continue to be intriguing to watch throughout the rest of the preseason.
