The Washington Wizards beat the Guangzhou Long-Lions, 140-111 in their final preseason game.

The Washington Wizards took care of business by dismantling the Guangzhou Long-Lions in their final preseason game. It was only close in the first quarter when the Wizards were only up by one. As soon as the second quarter started the show was over.

Marresse Speights, who recently signed with the Long-Lions this offseason, had probably the best game of his entire career with 41 points. And if Speights is the best player on the team then the Long-Lions won’t do that well for this coming year in the Chinese Basketball Association, but thats a conversation for another day.

The only original starters to play were Markieff Morris and Otto Porter Jr. and they merely played limited minutes. I will say that, Ian Mahinmi once again played fantastic in only 11 minutes. He had 11 points, 4 rebounds, and went 4-5 from the field. He continues to impress and demonstrate why the Wizards will be ok starting him at center for the start of the season with Dwight Howard out due to injury.

For the most part, the bench players who haven’t seen much floor time throughout the preseason were able to get some time on the court Friday night. It was time for them to showcase their talent for a chance at an opportunity. Some individuals made an impressive case to be on the final roster, which will make it tough for the coaching staff when they make the final cuts.

Let’s take a look at three takeaways from last night’s blowout win against the Long-Lions.
