It’s time to start making the tough decisions and the Washington Wizards have started the process by waiving four players.

The Washington Wizards started narrowing down their roster by waiving forward Lavoy Allen and guards Chasson Randle, Chris Chiozza, and Tiwian Kendley. The Wizards roster now stands at 14, which doesn’t included the their two-way players, Devin Robinson and Jordan McRae.

Roster cuts are never welcomed, but these specific ones shouldn’t surprise anyone. None of these individuals were electrifying heading into camp and didn’t do enough to impress for a roster spot during their duration.

Overall, Randle got the most playing time throughout the preseason. It was still extremely limited, but he received 12 minutes in the first matchup against the New York Knicks and didn’t do much in that span, producing just 2 points and 4 assists.

Chiozza, Kendley, and Allen got small doses of minutes throughout the preseason but their stats aren’t worth mentioning. To be fair, for these specific players, they didn’t stand a chance at making the roster.

The most playing time they received was in last preseason game against the Guangzhou Long-Lions. In their last effort to showcase their talents, all failed to stand out and impress the coaching staff. Allen and Randle both ended up with 10 points and were the most productive of the four players.

Allen, entering his 8th season in the league, has the most experience and should and be claimed by another team. His career hasn’t been anything special, serving as a bench for most of his tenure.

All in all, it was a no brainer to waive this group. The roster is to deep to keep any of these individuals. And If we are being brutally honest, Randle, Ciozza, and Kendley, most likely won’t make any NBA roster.

Wizards nation will eagerly be waiting to see how the rest of the roster shapes out. Regardless, the 12 players chosen for the the active roster will be talented, productive, and well-deserving of their spot.
