The regular season has finally arrived. Can the Washington Wizards elevate themselves to the top of the East?

The start of the NBA season is finally upon us as the Washington Wizards take on the Miami Heat Thursday night. The team has done a fantastic job at assembling a roster that has the potential to make a substantial run.

Washington will be tested early with two tough home games against the Heat and the Toronto Raptors, followed with a five game road trip out West. It will be intriguing to see how the team handles adversity early on in the season and it will give the Wizards the opportunity to demonstrate if they are a serious threat.

The Wizards have been their own worst enemy as they hinder themselves each year from rising to the next level. It’s exciting to see all the talent on the roster this season and see the potential the team has.

However, it’s been a trend for the Wizards to perform below expectations. We’ve seen the sup-par performances time and time again, which causes the question; What’s going to be different this year?

Understandably, this is why people don’t consider Washington to be series contenders, rather pretenders, in vying for the Eastern Conference crown. I anticipate and hope that this year will be different as the franchise needs to make a turn in the right direction. But, there are still some areas that leave us questioning if the team can make a serious run.

Both doubt and optimism surround the Wizards team heading into the year. With that being said, let’s take a look at the 3 biggest concerns heading into the regular season.
