2. John Wall vs. Steph Curry
Speed vs. Flash.
John Wall brings the quickness and Steph Curry brings the razzle dazzle. This will definitely be a battle worth watching the entire night.
Curry has been on a MVP level in his first 4 games averaging 30.5 points, 7.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game. He’s showcasing that he’s coming after that trophy regardless if everyone has Anthony Davis, LeBron James, or Kawhi Leonard winning.
It’s clear that Curry can’t be contained. Wall is a good on-ball defender and will give him a little bit of trouble, but not enough to hold Curry back from going bonkers. If Wall wants to slow Curry down he will need to do it on the offensive end.
The main weakness for Curry has always been his defense. At times he can even become an big defensive liability. Wall needs to exploit this by attacking the basket and getting out in transition as often as he’s able too.
Causing Curry to be tiresome at lapses in the game will be the Wizards best chance at stopping him from catching fire. Otherwise expect multiple shimmies as Steph trots back to play defense.
Prepare not to blink, otherwise you will miss out on numerous 3-pointers, quick crossovers, and perhaps we see some more bank shots from Wall. These two will be in full attack mode going up against each other.
I know it’s surprising that this isn’t the No.1 showdown to watch, but the next one won’t fail to disappoint.
