Chasson Randle has agreed to a deal with the Washington Wizards. A small but subtle move for the team.

The Washington Wizards have signed Chasson Randle to a one-year, non-guaranteed deal. The team signed him from the Capital City Go-Go.

Randle played three preseason games and spent training camp with the Wizards. During this time he averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 assists per game. His best game was against the Guangzhou Long-Lions, where he logged 21 minutes and scored 10 points.

Washington was only carrying 13 members on their roster after they dealt Jodie Meeks to the Milwaukee Bucks. They had to get back to the minimum requirement, which is 14 players. The team now has all 14 roster spots filled, not including two-way players Devin Robinson and Jordan McRae.

The 6’2″ guard will provide depth to Washington’s backcourt, but as the 14th man don’t expect him to get any significant playing time. He’s got some decent experience as he played for the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks during the 2016-17 season.

It’s actually surprising to see the Wizards add a guard rather than sign some type of big man. As most people know, the Wizards are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league. I don’t see this move as a long-term solution. I believe they are just currently doing it to make their numbers.

They have until January 7 to make the final decision on weather or not to keep Randle on the team or waive him. It’s trending that Washington will have to get a veteran big man if Ian Mahinmi and Jason Smith keep playing poorly.
