3. Al Jefferson

This would be a long shot, but what the hell.

Al Jefferson has averaged 15.7 points and 8.4 rebounds for his career. He’s played 14 years in the league and is currently 33 years old.

Injuries have plagued Jefferson’s time in the league, but with a bench role he wouldn’t need to worry about extensive minutes.

The big man was last waived by the Indian Pacers and then signed a deal with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers. This means it would be difficult to somehow obtain him, but he would be a great fit in Washington.

He didn’t get the attention he deserved in Indiana and that was largely due to the rise of Myles Turner. It was a bad decision for Jefferson to leave the NBA as he probably could have found a home if he had been patient.

Dwight Howard needs a decent big man who can give him a breather and play reserve minutes. Everyone knows Ian Mahinmi and Jason Smith are poor solutions to the backup center position.

This would be one of the more difficult scenarios to accomplish, but a man can dream , can’t he?  Who knows, if the Wizards get even more desperate than they currently are, maybe something could happen.

Jefferson has had an illustrious career in the NBA. It would be great to see him make a return.
