Washington Wizards: 3 Reasons Why the Wizards Should Sign Carmelo Anthony
1. Playoff Experience
Anthony has seemed to have done it all, except win a title. Anthony has 11 years of playoff experience and has played in over 60 post season games.
In fact, when it comes to clutch time, Anthony has a career percentage of over 47% for game winning shots. That’s higher than Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. He’s had over 15 game winners and has that big shot mentality. This is a huge reason the Wizards have failed in the postseason the past 2 years.
Wall and Beal have proven to be fantastic All-Stars, but have not been known to produce in a big game during the 4th quarter. Last year, these two shot blanks in game 6 of the Toronto Raptors series. They couldn’t buy a shot in the 4th quarter.
Let’s take it back 2 years, in Game 7 of the Semifinals vs. the Boston Celtics. Wall and Beal didn’t have an answer when Isaiah Thomas or Kelly Olynyk were torching them. They’ve improved since then, but Melo could be the solution to that type of problem.

Wall has one of the most inconsistent jump shots in the NBA, and when the game is on the line Beal tends to need a play drawn up for him to succeed. By adding Anthony, this just gives the Wizards a viable 3rd option who has taken and made plenty of game winning shots.
The Wizards should welcome Melo to D.C. He would bring a calming and veteran presence that Washington lacks at the end of games. The organization needs to consider making this move.
