Washington Wizards: Bradley Beal becoming a true Superstar
Bradley Beal is proving before our very eyes that he’s becoming a true Superstar for the Washington Wizards. Time for the team and the Wizards organization to fully embrace it.
Despite his recent insane play, Bradley Beal hasn’t been that big of a hot topic. He’s always shown glimpses of being a star in this league, but has always been overshadowed by John Wall.
This remainder of this year will prove to be a critical one for the Washington Wizards’ Franchise. Everyone knows that Wall has a recent problems with injuries and that his contract is insane. Not to mention that he’s slowing down on the court.
I’ll be the first to admit that Wall helped keep this team relevant over the past decade, but it’s time to shift gears and hand the reigns over to Beal. At just 25 years old, he’s shown consistent improvement year after year.
Since the new year started, Beal has averaged 31.3 points, 6.9 assists, and 5.4 points per game. Without a doubt these are numbers that only superstars average in the league. Once again, Beal has shown that he can keep this team afloat and remain relevant in the Eastern Conference.
There is so much other noise going around in the NBA. James Harden has been on fire as of late, Golden State is always being talked about, and every move Kawhi Leonard makes is being critiqued and analyzed. All this doesn’t allow for Beal to be recognized. Realistically, if Beal continues to perform the way he is, it would be hard to argue against him not being a top 10 player in the league.
His last game against Leonard and the Toronto Raptors supports this. Beal produced a triple-double scoring 43 points, 15 assists, and 10 rebounds. He went toe-to-toe with one of the MVP candidates and almost pulled it out. Beal went bonkers in this game and showed that teams shouldn’t take him and the Wizards lightly anymore.
Washington is still figuring things out as a team, but has been trending in the right direction. They current sit 2.5 games back of a playoff spot without a lot of basketball left to play. If Beal can carry this team to the playoffs, then the Wizards need to move on from Wall and do a complete rebuild around Beal.
Wall will be an attractive piece to trade to teams that are 1-2 players away from seriously contending from a championship. The Wizards could get great value back for Wall, which would allow them to start putting the proper talent around Beal.
The conversation of trading Wall could be discussed all day, the point is that Beal is turning into a legit NBA Superstar before our very eyes.
