Dominate the Draft

One of Grunfeld’s more frustrating arena’s, the NBA Draft, has long been a night of anxiously waiting for the inevitable bad news. It could be a bad pick, or a bad trade, or no draft pick at all, but somehow, draft night hasn’t always been the night of hope and excitement that is is for most teams. The NBA draft (outside of John Wall and Bradley Beal) hasn’t exactly been kind to Wizards fans as of late.

If the new GM wants to get their tenure in Washington off to a strong start, they need to nail the draft. With only one pick this year (luckily a first rounder) the Wizards only have one shot. They’ll need to make that first-round pick worth it.

Being in the lottery should make it easier to acquire the top tier talent they need. But it’s not a given that a high draft pick results in the right draft pick. Wizards fans are still having nightmares about Jan Vesely.
