Make Washington a Free Agent Destination

It’s been a long time since as top tier free agent in the prime of his career came to Washington. Besides the washed-up bodies of former greats (Paul Pierce, Dwight Howard), Gilbert Arenas may be the most recent example of Washington landing a “big-name” free agent. And he didn’t really become Agent 0 until he came to Washington.

The Wizards have often been involved in rumors or listed as a possible destination for some of the bigger free agents. Kevin Durant, Al Horford, and Paul Millsap maybe some of the more notable names once linked to the Wizards in recent years. You’ll notice though that none of them actually became Wizards.

The next GM needs to turn Washington into a free agency destination. I mean this is Washington, D.C. The nation’s capital. The most powerful city in the world. It’s time to land some talent suitable for such a city.

It might take a little bit of time for this to happen given the cap situation that Grunfeld is leaving his successor. But the sooner the better.
