NBA Draft: 4 Forwards the Washington Wizards Should Consider on Draft Night
By Ethan Smith
Little, like Doumbouya, would be a project for the Wizards. Although he certainly passes the eye test, possessing the size and athleticism to make the jump to the NBA, things never quite clicked for Little at North Carolina. He struggled to find any consistency during his one year in Chapel Hill and even found himself outside of the starting lineup.
However, Little still possesses a ton of upside and potential. There’s a reason he was one of the top recruits coming out of high school. And there’s a reason he’s still being talked about as a lottery pick despite his lackluster college campaign.
He’s an incredible athlete and will probably benefit from the additional spacing of the NBA game. But often, Little relied too much on his strength and athleticism on the offensive end. Little was an extremely impressive 48.0 percent on the season from inside the three-point arc, often finishing at the rim with an explosive dunk or a tough and-1. However, further from the hoop is another story entirely. Little shot a dismal 26.9% from three at UNC. As the NBA game moves further and further from the basket, Little’s lack of range is not ideal.
Like most of the players that the Wizards could take with the ninth pick, Little has potential as well as red flags. His ceiling, though, might not be as high as some of the other forwards available.
