5 Guards the Washington Wizards Could Target in Free Agency
By Ethan Smith
Rajon Rondo
Rajon Rondo has been around awhile, but he is still a super solid point guard in this league.
Last season, a shortened one with the Los Angeles Lakers, he averaged 9.2 points, 8.0 assists, and 5.3 rebounds, and proved he could still be a starting point guard after Lonzo Ball went down with an injury. At 33 years old, he is not the ideal free agent to bring in and help run the offense. But having your supermax point guard in a walking boot during his prime years is not ideal either. And there is certainly no doubt that he can run an offense.
Plus, Rondo would bring a lot to the Wizards that does not necessarily show up in the stat sheet. As noted, Rondo is great at running an offense and getting everyone involved. The Wizards right now are young, with a lot of players that need time and space to grow. Rondo’s style of play could help them do that. He3 can get the right person the ball at the right time in the right spot. It is up to them to finish the job.
By nearly all accounts throughout his career, Rondo is a great teammate. His relationships with coaches have not always been quite as amicable, though.
