Cory Joseph

Cory Joseph has made a career out of being a great backup point guard. In his eight NBA seasons, playing for the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, and Indiana Pacers, Joseph has never started more than 22 games in a season.

He has also never played in fewer than 68 games since 2013. In Joseph, the Wizards would be getting a solid, reliable player that knows his role and plays it well. He’s a consummate NBA professional., the pinnacle of what you would want from a backup in the backcourt.

One of Joseph’s best qualities is his ball security. Despite being one of the primary ballhandlers whenever he is on the court, Joseph has never averaged even two turnovers per 36 minutes for an entire season (per Basketball-Reference).

With reports that the Wizards could show some serious interest in Joseph once the clock strikes 6 pm on June 30, do not be too surprised if the Wizards finally get John Wall the competent backup he has needed for years. They just will not get to play together for a while.
