Garrison Matthews

Garrison Matthews is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard who is known for his tremendous ability to shoot threes. The sharpshooter played four years at Lipscomb before heading the NBA. Last season at Lipscomb, Matthews shot eight threes per game, knocking down over 40% of them.

Matthews puts up insane scoring numbers, averaging 20.8 points per game last year and became Lipscomb all time leading scorer with 2,478 career points. Matthews’ most impressive outing in college came against Kennesaw State where he had 43 points, breaking the school record for most points in a single game. Matthews has been selected to the first team All-Atlantic Sun three times and last year was the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year.

Matthews went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft, but signed a two-way contract with the Wizards. Matthews said that signing with the Wizards “means so much to me to get this opportunity after working so hard to get here.” The Wizards could have found a gem in Garrison Matthews and I look forward to seeing what he can do in Summer League.
