The Washington Wizards Trade Bradley Beal to the Boston Celtics

In this trade, the Celtics create a potential superteam with Kemba Walker, Bradley Beal, Jayson Tatum, and Gordon Hayward.

Last season, the Celtics had extremely high expectations, but lost in the second round of the playoffs. After losing Kyrie Irving and Al Horford in free agency, the Celtics revamped by adding star point guard Kemba Walker as well as Enes Kanter.

The Celtics are currently viewed as one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. However, both the 76ers and Bucks are viewed as superior to the Celtics. Adding Bradley Beal into the mix would change that notion. By trading for Beal, the Celtics would instantly be in the mix for, not only kings of the East, but championship contenders.

For the Wizards, they would get a large haul of future picks and young assets. This trade would also make the Wizards huge Ja Morant and Memphis Grizzlies fans for next season. This is because one of the picks being sent to Washington is the Grizzlies’ 2020 first round pick which is top-six protected. With the Grizzlies likely not being a great team next season, there is a good chance the Grizzlies receive a top six pick meaning the Wizards would not get the pick next year. Instead the pick would role over to 2021. If the pick falls outside the top six, that pick would go to the Wizards. This means the better the Grizzlies do next season, the better it is for the Wizards.

The Wizards would also receive the Bucks’ first round pick next season which is also top-seven protected. However, with the Bucks being one of the best teams in the league, the Wizards will not have to worry about that pick falling into the top-seven.

If everything falls into place with this trade, the Wizards could have three first round picks in 2020, two of them being lottery picks. They will also have two future first round picks from the Celtics.

In the trade, the Wizards also receive Jaylon Brown, Marcus Smart, and Romeo Langford.

Langford was the Celtics first round pick in the 2019 draft, selected 14th overall out of Indiana University. This adds another young asset to the Wizards roster which is exactly what they need in a rebuild.

Marcus Smart is a trade filler in this deal. Smart is entering the second year of his four year, $52 million deal. Smart is only 25 years old and would be able to get plenty of playing time on the Wizards to continue to develop his game. The Wizards could also use him in a future trade to get more assets.

Jaylen Brown is the big pickup in this trade. Brown is 22 years old, in the middle of his rookie contract, and has already became a reliable player in this league. Brown has the potential to be a star in the NBA if developed correctly.

Many Wizards fans would be upset that they are not getting Jayson Tatum in this trade. However, the Celtics would be highly unlikely to be willing to part with Tatum as they refused to include him in a deal for Anthony Davis.
