November 13 at Boston Celtics

Isaiah Thomas has never really had a true return to TD Garden vs the Boston Celtics.

Although he’s faced the Celtics four times since leaving the team, twice as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers and twice as a member of the Denver Nuggets, he only played once. He was Inactive for one game while on both teams and Did Not Dress in his second game vs Boston as a Cavalier.

Thomas finally got some playing time vs the Celtics when the Nuggets visited Boston back in March of this year. Thomas did see the floor, but only for 6:50. Hardly enough time to make an impact and certainly not enough time to give the Boston fans some of that old 2017 feeling back.

When the Washington Wizards visit TD Garden in November, Thomas is likely to have a role deserving much more than six minutes per game. In all likelihood, Thomas will be the Wizards starting point guard for this game against Boston, barring any unforeseen injuries.

Finally, more than two seasons removed from his cinderella season and over two years from the trade that ripped him from Boston, Thomas will finally get a chance to summon up some of that old magic against the team he nearly led to the NBA Finals. He’ll get another chance at revenge in front of the Boston crowd on March 13. The Wizards will take on the Celtics at home on January 6 and March 23.

With four games scheduled between the two teams, Thomas should be able to make up for games missed over the past two seasons if he can stay healthy.
