“We’re going to be very patient,” Scott Brooks on the plan with John Wall

According to coach Scott Brooks, John Wall will not play in another NBA game “until he is 100 percent.”

If you take Wall at his word, he probably won’t take too much issue with that approach.

“I’m in no rush. Only (I) can know how my body feel. Everybody has a deadline…but it doesn’t always work that way. In my rehab, I’m in a great space right now,” Wall said during media day when asked about his rehab process.

If you want to see John Wall back on the court ASAP, then maybe you won’t be too excited to hear that this is the plan. If you want to see a healthy John Wall that’splaying at the highest level he can, though, then this should be welcome news.

Wall’s Achilles injury is nothing to take lightly. We’ve seen as recently as the NBA Finals with Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors, just how devastating it can be to rush back from an injury before a player is 100 percent ready to come back. And Wall understands the risk, too. “I came back from some injuries before and made other things worse,” he added. Sometimes, getting back quickly isn’t always best.

Brooks didn’t rule out Wall for the entire season. Not yet. In fact, he said the team is not operating under the assumption that he will miss the whole season. But they’re aware that there’s a very good chance he could, and they don’t seem to mind that.

A healthy John Wall is the best John Wall.
