“A lot of guys think they can do everything, but I really do think I can do anything.” – Rui Hachimura

He can drive. He can play in the post. He can shoot. He can guard big guys. He can guard point guards on the perimeter. That’s how Hachimura, himself, describes what he brings to this team.

There might be some questions about how Rui Hachimura’s game translates to the NBA. But after hearing this quote, there should be absolutely no questions about his confidence. Hachimura, unlike some rookies who think they can do it all, actually thinks he can do it all.

Hachimura wasn’t the only one with high praise for the ninth overall pick. John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Isaiah Thomas all showered their new teammate with praise.

“He can space the floor and shoot. He’s not going to force the issue,” said Wall. He’s ready to see Hachimura “get going” and he’s not alone.

Bradley Beal also gave Hachimura a glowing review based on the few times they’ve played pickup together. “He’s been awesome. He’s been amazing.”

Both Wall and Beal used the word “tweener” to describe Rui’s style of play. He’s “not a legit four, not a legit three,” making him a perfect fit in today’s NBA.

“It’s a positionless league, and we’re no different,” said Scott Brooks.
