The NBA season is just days away. Time to make some bold predictions about what we’ll see from the Washington Wizards.
The NBA returns to regular-season action this week, and opening night cannot come soon enough. The Washington Wizards will open their season on Wednesday night when they take on the Dallas Mavericks.
It’s been an offseason full of change in Washington, starting with the firing of Ernie Grunfeld back in April. Since then, the Wizards have committed to a new identity and a new direction under Tommy Sheppard. This offseason, they built a roster that includes just six players from last season: Bradley Beal, John Wall, Troy Brown Jr, Thomas Bryant, Ian Mahinmi, and Jordan McRae.
Chief among the returnees is Bradley Beal, who the Wizards have now locked up for at least three seasons, despite the NBA-wide assumption that his days in Washington were numbered. After signing his extension last week, Beal cannot be traded under the current CBA rules until after the 2019-20 season.
But even if the questions around Beal have been answered, there are still plenty of unknowns surrounding this very young Wizards team. This season feels like it could truly go any which way for the Wizards. So before things tip-off and the season gets underway, here are four bold predictions for the 2019-20 season.
