The Bench

Over the past few years, the Wizards’ biggest weakness has always been the bench. While the starting group has often been solid, as soon as the Wizards had to turn to the bench, things went haywire. However, this year, the Wizards may no longer have this issue.

Now, we have already mentioned a few guys who will most likely see bench minutes in Isaac Bonga, CJ Miles and Ish/IT. However, outside of that, there are still some key contributors.

Davis Bertans has been a flamethrower to start the season as the clear-cut best shooter on the roster. In the NBA, you can never have enough shooting, and when you have one of the best shooters in the league on your team, you know for a fact that he will see the floor a lot.

Bertans has also shown that outside of his shooting that he can hold his own guarding fours on the defensive end and has also been a sneaky good passer on offense. It should probably be expected that with Rui Hachimura still growing, Bertans will be the first guy off the bench most nights.

There’s also Moe Wagner, who, to many people’s surprise, has had a solid start to the season. He has been a legitimate stretch five so far this year. In six games, he’s already averaging 11.7 points off the bench and shooting 39 percent from three. Moe brings a lot of high energy off the bench and if he can defend night in and night out like he did on Andre Drummond, Wagner could be an interesting piece backing up Thomas Bryant.
