Relive some glory days with the Washington Wizards this season. Thankfully, these City Edition jerseys don’t suck.

Let’s be honest. The City Edition jerseys have been pretty hit or miss this season. It was anybody’s guess as to what the Washington Wizards were going to reveal.

Of course, there have been some beautiful alternate threads unveiled already this season. The Denver Nuggets gave their traditional throwbacks a coat of black. The Atlanta HawksPeachtree jerseys could be something found on the racks at KITH’s SoHo store in New York. And the Phoenix Suns added some Hispanic flair and a subtle but saucy upgrade to their shorts.

But not all teams were that lucky. There are the now-infamous “Cream City” jerseys for the Milwaukee Bucks. Oh and don’t forget about the universally-panned Dallas Mavericks jerseys that feature some Fisher-Price graffiti.

Luckily, the Wizards got it right with their City Edition jerseys. The stars and stripes are back!

With a few slight tweaks, the Wizards are back in some jerseys that are very similar to the one John Wall was wearing atop the scorer’s table during the 2017 playoffs. Good times.

There are only three significant differences between these City Edition jerseys and the old Stars and Stripes jerseys from a couple of years ago.

  • One: “Washington” on the front of the jersey was replaced with “D.C.”
  • Two: The numbers changed from blue to red.
  • Three: The D.C. Flag was added to the waistband of the shorts.

Other than that, they’re pretty much identical. Hey, if the Wizards aren’t going to be contenders out there on the court, at least they can remind us of when they were. Along with being one of the NBA’s best offensive teams, they’re also now one of the NBA’s best-dressed teams.

If you want one of these City Edition jerseys for yourself (and why wouldn’t you), they go on sale November 27. The Wizards will debut their new digs on December 5 when they host the Philadelphia 76ers, an appropriate opponent for some American-flag themed jerseys.

According to the jersey schedule on their website, the Wizards plan to wear their City Jerseys 27 times this season, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see how they look in action.
