The Washington Wizards could find themselves with a high draft pick next April. With a draft pool full of talented prospects, the Wizards could strike gold.

In a year that many may have seen coming, the Washington Wizards have started the season with just four wins through their first twelve games. Regardless of the record, the season has been very interesting, to say the least. As stated throughout the offseason, this season is all about development.

With that, we have gotten the chance to see Bradley Beal‘s leadership come to light. We have seen Rui Hachimura come out of the gates firing on all cylinders. Plus, the franchise may have acquired some offseason steals in Davis Bertans and Moe Wagner. Both have been great thus far.

Unfortunately, the Wizards have also had their fair share of negatives, as well. The defense has been atrocious, and the rebounding on both ends has left a lot to be desired. All in all, none of this should come as much of a surprise considering the state of the depleted roster after the dismissal of a long-time GM, whose name we will not mention.

With a year more focused on development than wins, the Wizards will most likely find themselves with a top spot in the draft lottery next spring.

Hitting on this draft pick in the short term could put this team right back in playoff contention. With Bradley Beal entering his prime, John Wall returning from injury, Rui Hachimura and Thomas Bryant continuing to improve, and this potential lottery pick, the Wizards could immediately get right back in the playoff mix.

If things go haywire, though (which does happen in DC occasionally), this pick could be huge for the team’s future. Hitting on this draft pick gives the Wizards a foundational cornerstone moving forward if they decide that the Wall/Beal era is growing stale.

With all that said, let’s take a look at some of the prospects who may be available when the Wizards are picking during next year’s draft. I’ll break down each prospect’s scouting report and assess how they could fit in with this Wizards roster.

With that being said, let’s get started…
