Happy Thanksgiving! The Washington Wizards have a lot to be thankful for this year.

Forget the 6-10 record. I am thankful for this Washington Wizards basketball team, and you should be too!

Coming into the season, nobody had any faith in the Wizards. Win projections from sportsbooks topped out around 30. No one knew who would score besides Bradley Beal. And nobody knew who would defend.

A month into the season and we still haven’t figured out who is going to be the defensive stopper on this team, but we’ve been blessed with many pleasant surprises.

As of Thanksgiving morning, the Wizards are just a half-game behind the Orlando Magic for the East’s final playoff spot. Following their 140-132 victory over the Phoenix Suns, the Wizards are tied with the Milwaukee Bucks as the NBA’s highest-scoring team, pouring in over 119.4 points per game. Their offensive rating (114.3) is second only to the Dallas Mavericks. This is certainly not what people expected when the season began.

Oh, and they lead the league in total assists, dropping over 28 dimes per game. On this Wizards team, everybody eats, on Thanksgiving, and on every other day of the week.

With so many things going better than expected, the Wizards certainly have a lot to be thankful for so far this season. Here are the three things we’re happy are happening in Washington.
