Less than 48 hours after Bradley Beal’s culture comments, the Washington Wizards looked less than inspired against the reigning champs.

The Washington Wizards simply had no answers for the Toronto Raptors. Following a frustratingly close loss to the Chicago Bulls, the Wizards were blown out by the Raptors from start to finish.

Despite being without Fred VanVleet, the Raptors jumped out to a 20-7 lead in less than seven minutes and never looked back, outscoring the Wizards in each and every quarter. Final score: 140-111.

The loss marks the fifth time this season that the Wizards have given up at least 135 points. Shockingly, the Wizards have lost all five of those games.

Turnovers and three-point shooting really made the difference in this one. The Wizards finished the game with a season-high 26 turnovers, which the Raptors turned into 30 points of their own. And although the Wizards were able to shoot a fairly impressive 42.9 percent from behind the arc, going 15 for 35 on the night, the Raptors were even better. Matched up against the NBA’s worst defense, the Raptors buried 22 of their 43 three-point attempts. Marc Gasol, Norman Powell, and Terence Davis combined to go 15 for 24 from behind the arc.

After blasting the team for still clinging to a losing culture, Bradley Beal was less than stellar in the team’s trip north of the border. Beal had14 points on 12 shots, three rebounds, and two assists. In the second half, Beal only played seven minutes.

Even worse than Beal’s performance was the loss of Jordan McRae. McRae went down early in the first half with a sprained ankle and did not return to the game. He now joins Moritz Wagner and Garrison Mathews on the list of Wizards to sprain their ankles this season.

But there were some solid performances in the team’s embarrassing loss. Troy Brown Jr had 22 points and eight rebounds in just 26 minutes. Isaac Bonga might have had the best game of his young career, recording his first double-double with career-highs in both scoring (17 points) and rebounding (10 rebounds).

dark. Next. Davis Bertans deserves to be in the three-point contest

After this loss, the Wizards have now played 41 games this season. We are officially halfway through the season and the Wizards are13-27, on pace to win just 26 games. They’re back in action (and back home!) on Monday versus the Detroit Pistons. Washington has won two of three against Detroit this season.
