The NBA’s trade deadline is just weeks away, set for February 6. What should the Washington Wizards be after on the trade market?

The Washington Wizards are freefalling into high lottery pick territory. Making the motive behind their moves at the deadline all the more obscure and unkown. Should they be buyers or sellers?

Just three weeks away, the trade deadline holds promise for a couple of larger moves as high-profile names keep popping up in trade whispers.

Names like Andre Drummond, Robert Covington, D’Angelo Russell, and Washington’s own Davis Bertans have long been rumored in the trade chatter. Whether they’ll be traded or not will likely all come down to circumstance on the day or days before the deadline. And if Drummond really is on the move, he’s one name the Wizards should stay away from.

The Wizards as potential sellers, have some assets that could garner serious interest. Bertans, Isaiah Thomas, Jordan McRae, and their own first-round picks for years to come could all fetch decent to great value in the trade market.

Capability to make a deal isn’t the issue. The Wizards have the assets to make something happen if they so choose. But the willingness, and how eager the front office is to shake up the current roster could determine whether the Wizards are active or quiet at the deadline.

For Washington, the deadline presents opportunities to invest in both their future and present. With that said, here’s three predictions on what could happen for the Wizards at the trade deadline.
