Washington Wizards: 3 reasons Scott Brooks should be on the hot seat
As the Washington Wizards free fall towards the bottom of the Eastern Conference, should the front office consider a coaching change?
Few head coaches have had a tougher year than Scott Brooks of the Washington Wizards.
He entered the 2019-2020 campaign without his starting point guard and franchise player John Wall. But the injury bug didn’t stop there, as almost the entire locker room has missed at least a game if not more with some sort of ailment.
And the games that his players have played are, well, uninspiring to say the least. The Wizards have a top-15 player in Bradley Beal, and have only won their 15 wins by the skin of their teeth.
It’s clear to some fans that Brooks no longer commands the respect of the young players on this team, and he may not get the respect of his superstar point guard when he returns either. Maybe it’s because there are no expectations this season in terms of winning, or maybe it’s something that will extend beyond the 2019-20 campaign.
As the front office continues to assess the roster makeup and how it pertains directly to their future as a team, should they look beyond the court to their head coach? It may not be time to fire Brooks, but a message conveying some displeasure may be appropriate.
The team has consistently underpeformed under his leadership and he has had three and half seasons now to show the fans something. Each year has resulted in a smaller number in the win column.
With that in mind, three reasons why Brooks should be considered for dismissal.
