Pick #4
Team Jack: Joel Embiid (Third selection, 2018-2020)
Jack: Keith just picked one of, if not, the best big man in the game with AD. So instantly I had to make another counter with one of the best centers in the game: Joel Embiid. Trying to play the smart game here folks!
Embiid is another solid fit, with Luka in particular, with his ability to rebound and be solid around the rim. With so many different offensive weapons, Embiid will be able to suck up rebounds and get the break started in typical all-star game fashion.
With a solid core of strong, long armed weapons, Embiid will fit right in with our hard-nosed squad.
Team Keith: Kemba Walker (Fourth selection, 2017-2020)
Keith: There was some nervousness around the league if Kemba would still be as good not being the only guy on a lackluster roster like he was on the Charlotte Hornets. Those doubts have been easily put to rest.
Kemba is scoring 22.3 points per game on the second best shooting percentages of his career from the field and behind the line as well. His ability to set the offense and hit clutch shots will be truly valued on a team next to Harden and Giannis.
Pick #5
Team Jack: Trae Young (First selection)
Jack: Ice Trae! With my final pick among starters I was very happy to take Trae Young.
With my first few picks being guys who can play so many different positions, selecting Young gives those guys more chances to play to their strengths with Trae being a true guard. Playing with the rest of this starting unit Trae will get the chance to do a lot of what he does best, shoot the three.
With his ability to take the top off the defense, Young will be an important piece as a scoring option for our squad. I also like Trae in the backcourt with Luka just for fun, as we can continue to analyze the link between those two forever as they were traded for each other in the 2018 draft.
Team Keith: Pascal Siakam (First selection)
Keith: Not much to say here, as I’m left with the last of the first selections at the end of the slate. I’m not upset though, snagging a 6’9″ up-and-coming superstar to pair with Anthony Davis.
Jack probably snagged the flashiest person in the draft with the Young pick, and Siakam isn’t nearly as sexy, but he’s another efficient scorer (albeit less efficient this year), and another surprisingly accurate three-point shooter at 36.8 percent.
