3-point contest: Davis Bertans
Hopefully, this doesn’t come as a surprise. And hopefully, it actually happens. Because it should. Davis Bertans should be in the three-point contest. Keith Cork made the case pretty strongly earlier on Wiz of Awes. I recommend taking a look at that if you care about the NBA’s best shooter getting to prove it on the NBA’s biggest stage.
I mean, if Bertans doesn’t get in the three-point contest, what are we really doing hosting the competition at all? Having a nickname like the Latvian Laser should honestly gain him free entry into the competition for as long as he wants. But besides his name, Bertans’ numbers are deserving of the big stage.

Bertans currently ranks twelfth in three-pointers attempted and tenth in three-pointers made. That’s all despite missing nine games this season and only starting in four. That’s fewer starts and more games missed than any player above him on the three-pointers attempted and made lists, per Basketball-Reference.
Among the 24 shooters that have taken at least 300 three-point attempts this season, Bertans currently ranks third in three-point percentage, per Basketball-Reference. He’s shooting 42 percent from behind the arc this season while averaging 8.5 attempts per game. And while he might not be on the same historic pace he was on earlier this season, he’s still giving defenses nightmares.
If Bertans can bring the three-point trophy to Washington, it could be the biggest and best trophy the Wizards organization can claim ownership of for quite some time.
Let it rain, Davis!
