4 key decisions the Washington Wizards must make at the trade deadline
3. Do NOT deal Troy Brown Jr.
In a recent tweet by Quinton Mayo, Troy Brown Jr. was mentioned as part of a potential package deal that the Wizards could make this coming week.
I, for one, would despise a Troy Brown Jr. trade. Drafted in the first round by the Washington Wizards in 2018, Brown Jr. has steadily improved on a solid rookie year and has shown glimpses of real potential in his short tenure as a Wizard.
Averaging over double the amount of points per game this season than last, Brown Jr. has embraced his role as a 6th man type of player this season and flows well within the Washington Wizards’ current offense.
As Brown Jr. continues to develop confidence and improve, the last thing that I would want to see happen is for the Wizards to let his development go to waste by including him in a package for an older veteran who probably won’t last more than 2-3 years on the team anyway.
I would take the safe route and trust TBJ, who has been relatively healthy his entire career and can continue to learn under the wing of Bradley Beal, a superstar guard in his own right.
