Ian Mahinmi, Thomas Bryant, and our 1st round pick

This one is pretty self-explanatory and I’ve seen it elsewhere. It’s probably the trade that makes the most sense as it accomplishes a few things.

First, for the Washington Wizards, it nets them a transformative player in Andre Drummond. He has one year left on his contract and then a player option, which he would presumably turn down in search of better money as long as something crazy like an injury doesn’t happen.

The Wizards would then have to pay him max money, but Drummond is worth that kind of dough with his averages of 17.5 points and league-leading 15.8 rebounds per game.

light. Trending. What would the Washington Wizards’ record be with John Wall?

If the plan is for us to “retool” for a John Wall return for next year, we need another game changer, I’m fully convinced. Drummond fits that description. With Drummond at the center position and not giving up much else besides our draft pick, this makes the most sense for the Wizards brass.

It can also be done with a wink as Drummond would probably sit on the bench to close out the season as the Wizards tank to give the Pistons a good chance at the top pick overall. In addition to that, they get a promising high-motor player in Thomas Bryant and a massive expiring contract from Mahinmi which frees up cap space to go pursue free agents in the summer of 2020.
