Washington Wizards: Grading the potential endings to the 2019-20 season

Lose to the Bucks 4-1 in the first round of the NBA playoffs

Grade: A

This is long shot. A major long shot. The Bucks are currently on pace to be one of the best teams in NBA history. Not many teams are beating them this year.

If the Wizards somehow pulled off a victory in the NBA playoffs, this would truly deserve an A. For this to happen, a lot of things must go right for the Washington Wizards.

First off, I know everyone is saying that Bradley Beal needs to start playing like a top-10 player instead of borderline top-20. I believe that getting snubbed from the All-Star game could be exactly the wake up call he needs to step his game up.

In the last ten games Beal is averaging 35 points and the team is 5-5. If Beal can continue averaging around 35 the Wizards could feasibly play .500 the rest of the season which would probably be more than enough to steal the 8th seed from the Orlando Magic.

Also, The Magic have been playing awful basketball, they are 2-8 in their last ten games and only 3 games above the Wizards in the standings. It is not that crazy to see the Wizards ending the season going 15-16 in their last 31 games and sneaking into the playoffs.

I know that many people may think it is dumb to try to make the playoffs just to lose in the first round. But, this draft class is historically bad, maybe even as bad as the Anthony Bennett year. Also, we are just now starting to see the effects of tanking in Philadelphia, with the toxic culture that has been slowly forming there.

The excitement and experience that would come with making the playoffs would be a major blessing for these young inexperienced Wizards.
