5. Getting selected 3rd overall in the 2014 Rising Stars game

I wanted to put this one first because I think it goes a long way in explaining just how excited Washington Wizards fans were in 2014, and still are for their star guard in 2020. The 2014 game had a ton of talent, and you can watch the full draft in this video. Beal gets selected at the 4:55 mark.

The first two to come off the board in the draft were Anthony Davis and Damian Lillard, then came Beal. He beat people like Andre DrummondGiannis Antetokounmpo, and Victor Oladipo off the board.

That’s a pretty impressive group to be selected above, if you ask me.

It’s the perfect all-star moment to start on because it just highlights all the promise a young Bradley Beal held for a Washington Wizards team with championship aspirations. People were high on the kid, and aside from some unfortunate injuries he’s really lived up to the hype.

Beal went on in this game to put up 21 points (3rd most on the team), 4 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals in the winning effort for Team Hill. Andre Drummond wound up snagging the player of the game honors, but Beal was an instrumental piece in their victory.
