With the trade deadline and all-star break behind them, the Washington Wizards gear up for the home stretch. What should fans be watching for?

Well, here we are Washington Wizards fans. We’re well over halfway through the 2019-20 NBA season, and the Wizards sit on a 20-33 record.

We all knew going into this season, thanks to newly minted General Manager Tommy Sheppard, that this was a “retooling” season, so expectations were low. But this is DC we’re talking about, and we don’t take losing lightly, Evidently, neither does our star, Bradley Beal, who voiced his concerns in January.

So we’re at a bit of an impasse, stuck between our desire to win and an uncertain future as John Wall remains on the sidelines recovering from his Achilles tendon surgery. It’s unclear where he is in that recovery process exactly, and what the ceiling of this team looks like next year.

Because a successful NBA season takes a little bit luck on top of meticulous planning and above average management. So we’ll need Wall to be one of the lucky few who makes a full recovery from his Achilles injury, and we need to be looking towards next season now, in my opinion.

Our minutes distribution prior to the break doesn’t give me a ton of hope that there’s a “master plan” in the works that fans just aren’t privy to, but that doesn’t mean they’re necessarily the wrong choices.

With that being said, there’s a ton of reasons to watch the final 29 games of the season, for die-hard and even casual fans of our Washington Wizards. Here are the top five storylines for Wizards fans to look out for in our final stretch of the season.
