5. Gortat skies above the whole Charlotte Hornets team for the slam.

Marcin Gortat was constantly taking the skies for the Washington Wizards, flying high above the opposition for powerful dunks. He didn’t earn the nickname “The Polish Hammer” for nothing, you know?

Gortat contributed 9 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal, shooting 50 percent from the field and going 1-for-1 from the free throw line in a 107-93 win.

At this point, Gortat and John Wall obviously still had a good rapport, and Wall went off for 14 assists in this one. It was a bit over a month before, with Wall out with a knee injury, that Gortat made his “team win” comments that caused a rift between the two.

Wall continued the petty rift, but the two recovered throughout the season. Ultimately, it was irreparable and Gortat was traded to the Clippers where he only suited up for 47 games, and basically John Wall ended the dude’s career.

It’s unfortunate because their pick-and-roll play was some of the best in the league. Gortat led the league in 2017 in screen assists, with 6.2 per game in the regular season and 9.8 per game in the playoffs. Basically, it just means his screens lead to buckets, much like in this play shown above.
