Stephen Curry will make his return vs Washington Wizards

The NBA has not been the same without Stephen Curry, but the former MVP will make his return against the Washington Wizards.
Just a week ago, the Washington Wizards’ trip to take on the Golden State Warriors looked like a winnable one. Now, not so much. They’re getting Stephen Curry back.
After missing all but four games of this season with a broken hand, Curry is eyeing Sunday, March 1, for his return to the basketball court. That’s the day the Warriors play the Wizards for the final time this season. Shams Charania of The Athletic was first with the news.
Rumors of a Curry return during the Wizards-Warriors matchup have been swirling for a few weeks, but now it is official. And while we are all happy to see Curry back on the basketball court, could he have not postponed his return another game or two?
At this point, the Wizards need all the help they can get as they try to make the unlikeliest of playoff pushes to close out the season. After their loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, they sit 4.5 games behind the Orlando Magic and the Eastern Conference’s final playoff spot. Having to face off against one of the NBA’s deadliest scorers certainly doesn’t make that tall task any easier, even if he has missed over 50 games already this season.
Historically, Curry is a problem for the Wizards. Well, he’s a problem for everyone. But against Washington, Curry seems to enjoy some additional success. For his career, Curry averages 28.1 points per game against Washington, according to Basketball-Reference. The only other team he has a higher ppg average against is the Toronto Raptors (28.6).
If Curry picks up where he left off last season versus the Wizards, it could be a long night. In two games versus the Wizards last season, Curry went for 51 and 38 points in a pair of wins for the Warriors.
Even without their all-star guard, the Warriors gave the Wizards fits earlier this season, handily beating them 125-117 in D.C. If the Wizards want to keep their playoff hopes alive, they’ll need to spoil Curry’s return.
