Jerome Robinson is Getting His Chance

So one trade deadline acquisition, Shabazz Napier, has already worked his way into the starting lineup. The other trade deadline acquisition, Jerome Robinson, is still coming off the bench, but he’s already making his mark.

In the Wizards’ dramatic win over the Brooklyn Nets, it was Robinson who came up clutch down the stretch, hitting the go-ahead three, securing a defensive rebound, and icing the game at the free-throw line during consecutive possessions in the game’s final seconds. It was a beautiful microcosm of what the Wizards hope he can become.

All those heroics didn’t go unrewarded. Robinson was the first player off the bench against the Jazz and ended up getting more minutes in that game than he ever has as a Washington Wizard.

While Robinson’s game-winning shot against the Nets might be his most memorable moment thus far, his defense has been making a bigger impression. Any sort of defensive ability should be welcomed with open arms on this Wizards squad, which is severely lacking in that department. Robinson’s was on full display against Utah. He finished with two blocks and a steal, the second consecutive game he’s had at least one of each.

After struggling to find minutes With the LA Clippers, where Robinson was averaging just 11.3 minutes this season, the Wizards seem committed to seeing what Robinson’s got.
