1. Jaden McDaniels

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. SF/PF. Washington. Jaden McDaniels. 7. player. 142

Player Profile:

The projected 7th pick in this year’s draft thus far, the 6’10” 185 pound wing player Jaden McDaniels is a versatile forward with an insane wing span. He may serve best at the power forward position at the NBA level, but his agility and projected ability to develop an NBA jump shot makes him worth the gamble should the Washington Wizards find themselves in a position to draft him.

He’s still a bit of a project though, with athleticism more off the charts than his NBA readiness, and the Jonathan Isaac comparisons are apt. McDaniels is a late bloomer as far as his development as a basketball player goes, but he has insane upside.

He’s only a 33.9 percent shooter from distance at Washington and he’ll have to continue to develop that range as he’s more of a mid-range guy, but his catch and shoot ability is real nice and he should play well besides Wall’s explosiveness and ability to break down the defense.

As a bit of a project, though, I wouldn’t expect him to come in and contribute immediately. He would contribute an estimated -0.4 wins to this squad, meaning he wouldn’t have much of an effect at all. Still, there’s a good chance he’s available come time for the Washington Wizards to be on the clock, and they’d have to take a stab at that kind of upside.

Player Comparison: Jonathan Isaac

Estimated Wins Added: -0.4

Current Wizards Similarity:  Jerome Robinson (-0.4)
