3. Obi Toppin

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. SF/PF. Dayton. Obi Toppin. 142. 14. player

Player Profile:

Obi Toppin may be the most intriguing name on this list, and he isn’t even really a small forward. At least, he isn’t on the college level but after shooting 66.6 percent from the field and 52.4 percent from three-point land during the 2018-19 season, his stock rose considerably.

Plenty of mock drafts have Toppin coming off the board in the top 5, which isn’t a stretch by any means and means the Washington Wizards have just a small chance at landing him. If only those ping-pong balls land the right way!

Toppin is perhaps the most NBA-ready body in next year’s draft, and if he isn’t he’s pretty high up there, so young teams like the Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards in need of someone who can contribute right away will be looking at him. He’s a versatile player and can play both sides of the floor.

It’s his ability to catch-and-shoot from beyond the three-point line that has to have Wizards fans salivating. he’s the guy we want to land, no doubt in my mind. He’d add 3.3 wins to our total, similar to Amar’e Stoudemire in his rookie season and on the level of game impact as fan favorite Davis Bertans.

Those aren’t easily neglected comparisons, so here’s hoping Obi Toppin falls to us in the draft or we get lucky with those lottery balls!

Player comparison: Amar’e Stoudemire

Estimated Wins Added: 3.3

Current Wizards Similarity: Davis Bertans (3.6)
