5. February 23 @ Chicago Bulls
If you’ve been following along with Beal’s streak, seeing this one at number five might be a bit of a surprise. When Beal dropped 53 in Chicago, it was a career-high for him, and the first 50-point games for a Wizards player since Beal did it back in 2017.
In the second game back from the All-Star break, it was clear that Beal didn’t need any time to get back in a groove. But the rest of the Wizards were a different story. While Beal carried the scoring load, the rest of the Wizards struggled, and the Bulls controlled the game for the majority of the 48 minutes.
While Beal was efficient in his scoring (over 50 percent from the field and three) and added some additional support besides simply scoring, his stats were a bit empty, and he also coughed it up seven times. The Wizards were somehow defeated once again by a team that’s consistently been worse than them throughout the season.
Beal put on a scoring display in Chicago, but even he was dissatisfied with this game and decided to skip any post-game chats with the media. But even in a loss, 53 points deserve some props.
Final Score: Bulls 126- Wizards 117
Beal’s final line: 53 PTS, 5 REB, 4 AST, 2 STLS, 1 BLK, 7 TOV; 15/27 FG, 5/11 3PT, 18/20 FT
Season Series: 1-3 vs. Bulls
