200: Three-pointers made by Davis Bertans

Less than 25 wins. Less than 65 total games played. But this season might not have been a waste for the Washington Wizards. Why? Davis Bertans.

In one of the first moves as the Wizards general manager, Tommy Sheppard absolutely fleeced the San Antonio Spurs and took Davis Bertans’ expiring contract (and Bird Rights!!) for nothing.

Since leaving the great state of Texas and joining the guys in D.C., Bertans has done nothing but impress. Early in the season, he was Washington’s secret weapon off the bench. But as time went on and he buried endless barrages of three-pointers, he became the worst kept secret in the NBA.

Despite missing ten games this season, Davis Bertans is on pace to shatter the Wizards’ single-season three-point record. As things stand, he’s sunk an even 200 shots from outside. That puts him on pace to beat Bradley Beal’s current record of 223 by more than 40 made baskets.

The Wizards have made it quite clear all season that they want to keep Bertans. Luckily, the Latvian Laser has expressed his desire to stay in D.C. multiple times, too. But that doesn’t guarantee he’ll be back next season. Although, having his Bird Rights does give the Wizards a huge leg up on the rest of the field.

But with the offseason and the salary cap in limbo, anything could happen.
