22: Games of at least 10 points and five rebounds for Rui Hachimura

The first draft pick of the post-Ernie Grunfeld era looks like a good one after 64 games. Although he wasn’t the obvious or popular choice at number nine last summer, Hachimura has done nothing but impress since becoming a Wizard.

Hachimura’s 22 games with at least ten points and five rebounds highlight just how productive the rookie was for Washington right away. Despite having the least amount of NBA experience on the roster, Hachimura started since game one. And he’s making the most of his starting minutes. Hachimura is currently the team’s second-leading rebounder and third-highest scorer.

But he’s not only shining when compared to his teammates. When compared to the rest of his draft class, Hachimura is just as impressive. Among rookies, he ranks fifth in pointer per game and second in rebounds per game. Plus, he’s only one of four rookies to average at least 10 points and five rebounds this season.

Rui definitely has some work to do to ensure he doesn’t plateau after a solid rookie campaign. His knack for playmaking isn’t great and he can struggle to finish at the rim against NBA bigs. Plus, his defense, like the rest of the team’s, isn’t impressive. But overall, he is.

If he’s not on an All-Rookie team, D.C. should riot.
