It was great to see the Washington Wizards back in action, but not everyone wowed in the scrimmages.

After going over four months without Washington Wizards basketball, we are about to start seeing some competitive games once again. On July 31, the Wizards will restart their season and begin their final eight-game stretch when they take on the Phoenix Suns.

Luckily, the Wizards – and the rest of the NBA – aren’t getting thrown right into the fire. A few weeks and a few scrimmages in the bubble have allowed teams to ease into the new normal.

For the Washington Wizards, getting a little time to figure things out after the long hiatus ws crucial. In Orlando, they’re trying to regain chemistry and they’re trying to do it without Bradley Beal, who has opted out of the final stretch of the season. They’re also doing it without Davis Bertans, who has also decided to cut his season short.

The scrimmages were a time for the Wizards to figure out how they could/if they could make it work without their top two scorers. As most teams were just trying to shake off some rust, the Wizards were looking to do that and more. But they walked away from the pre-restart rehearsals winless. The Wizards went 0-3 in their scrimmages, losing to the Denver Nuggets, LA Clippers, and Los Angeles Lakers.

But just because the Wizards didn’t win doesn’t mean we didn’t learn anything.
