Admiral Schofield

I’m not really sure what happened to Admiral Schofield. The second-round pick from last year’s draft has spent most of his rookie season in the G-League with the Capital City Go-Go. The bubble seems like the perfect place for the Wizards to turn him loose and see where he excels at the NBA level.

Through the first three scrimmages, it looked like the Wizards were going to do that. Schofield was getting decent minutes and playing with freedom. Even if he looked lost at times, the coaching staff was letting him play through it.

Early on against Phoenix, it appeared Schofield might remain a part of the rotation beyond the scrimmages. After Rui Hachimura fell into foul trouble early, Schofield was the first man off the Wizards bench. However, after he logged nearly five and a half first-quarter minutes, we never saw Schofield again.

He did pick up two fouls in that short period of time, though, putting him on pace to foul out in just over 15 minutes of play. So that certainly didn’t help. But he also grabbed two boards.

The time to figure out Admiral Schofield is now, but that means he needs more than five minutes per game. It also means he also needs to defend without fouling.
